They are both standardized tests and most schools don't really care which you take, as long as you take one of them. However, they are essential toward applying for scholarships.They are what determine how you get into a university and if a university will accept you. SAT is mainly for scholarships, while ACT is for scholarships and most states actually require it before going into college.
