  • Lawrence Lee Pelletier Library Welcome to the Lawrence Lee Pelletier Library, which provides access to resources at Allegheny and beyond. With combined resources of more than 700,000 volumes, the Library offers a number of features: Connections to specialized indexes, scholarly information databases and numerous on-line journals; Inter-library loan and document delivery; Reference librarians who offer in-depth instruction in how to use the Internet and other research tools; Small computer clusters for student and faculty research; and Study carrels and tables wired with data jacks and power outlets for quick access to the campus network for laptop computer users. Also within Pelletier Library are the College's Archives and Special Collections, which includes the Ida Tarbell Collection and the Original Library that Timothy Alden developed from the bequests of the Rev. William Bentley and the Hon. James Winthrop. The College serves as the host for the Smeltzer Bell Research Center of the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. Located on the ground floor of the library, the Smeltzer Bell Center serves as an archive for church records. (Inquiries can be sent to uma@allegheny.edu.)
