NJ May Let Rutgers Regulate Charter Schools

New Jersey's top education official not only wants more charter schools — he wants more entities to approve and monitor them.

Education Commissioner Bret Schundler on Monday said he supports a bill that would allow Rutgers University's Graduate School of Education to authorize startup charters and to oversee them.

But Schundler wants to go farther and allow other entities to apply for the job.
