Salisbury University professor faces sex offense charges

A 58-year-old Salisbury University physics professor is facing sex offense and assault charges related to an incident involving a student, according to court records.

The professor, Asif Shakur, has been teaching at SU for 24 years, according to the university Web site.
The alleged incident occurred on Nov. 5, according to court records. Shakur was charged on Nov. 11 and taken into custody by police the next day. He was released the same day on $25,000 bond, according to court records.
