University of Alabama spring break sends new wave of students to Gulf Coast

The Gulf Coast beaches will turn a little more crimson this week, as the 33,000 students at the University of Alabama leave classrooms behind for a week of fun in the sun on spring break.

Those students will flock to the huge beach parties of Panama City Beach, or the quieter beach scenes in Gulf Shores or Destin.

In moderation, success: A group of UA students and faculty are working to try and raise awareness of the dangers of binge drinking as students head out to the beaches.
